March 15th, 2011

Maritime Countryfest is pleased to announce five more acts to join Dr. Hook & the Stampeders for the annual country music festival to be held at the Historic Garrison District (Officers Square) in downtown Fredericton, NB on June 9, 10 and 11, 2011.

Hailing from Miramichi, New Brunswick, The Durty Nellys, a Celtic / Irish rock band acquired their unique handle from a Pub of the same name located in the shadow of Bunrhatti Castle, County Claire, Ireland. There sits one of Ireland's oldest and most renowned pubs. So impressed with the establishment they were not hesitant when it came time to name their band! Formed in 2009, Miramichi's own Durty Nellys played their first gig on March 17 of that year!  They have come to be known as one of the hottest, cutting edge pub/Celtic bands the Maritimes has to offer. World-class musicians from the City of Miramichi, New Brunswick (Canada’s Irish Capital) they have come together to form a unique hard driving Celtic and folk experience.   From the corner pub to the big stage, the Nelly’s are guaranteed to satisfy any audience.

Mason’s Tender has been preserving Maritime culture since October 2006, combining Acadian and Irish folk tunes with a rock sensibility, this group fires up any audience through their jigs and reels. Hearty story songs bring beer mugs down to pound out the beat on the table and rollicking fiddle weaves its magic. Front man Bryon Chase has toured with East Coast Music Association Nominees Banshee for the past eight years, releasing three studio albums. Join him and Mason’s Tender for all your favorite East Coast songs mixed with originals in the Celtic roots tradition.

Cap-Pele New Brunswick's Melanie Morgan has been described as one of the most exciting new voices to hit the Canadian Country scene. Growing up in a small Acadian town, Melanie was exposed to both "Country" and "French Acadian" Music which makes her a good example of home grown talent. With her classic twang and powerful vocals Melanie has left a lasting impression on audiences all over Canada.Melanie's journey all began in 2006 when her dream of becoming a country recording artist flourished, heading down to Nashville Tennessee to record her debut album "Brand New Day". This debut album received national recognition at the East Coast Music Awards for "Country Recording of the Year" and at the Canadian Radio Music Award for her hit single "My Man" which also received national Airplay on CMT and on Canadian Radio Coast to Coast.

Kevin Davison, New Canadian Country Music Artist from Nova Scotia Canada has entered the country music scene, jumping in with both feet (in cowboy boots of course). Kevin began his journey three years ago when Producer JR Vautour called him one night and offered his services to get Kevin where he needed to be, Nashville.  With about a year to prepare and some backing from friends, family and NEWCAP, Kevin was on his way to Nashville to start what is now a promising career for this small town Paramedic.  "I have always known I would be entertaining

people at a very young age, performing my first solo when I was four and charging a quarter to anyone who wanted to see me lip sing in my basement when I was seven".  Kevin's long awaited album "Just the beginning" was released in November 2009 with success beginning quickly. Kevin released his first single "Bring it here to me" with numerous stations across the country adding the single to their playlist.  In April of last year, song number two hit the airwaves with a plethora of stations adding the song to the roster. In August Kevin became a charting artist breaking the top 100 songs on Country radio via media base, climbing to 82 on the charts where he currently sits. Kevin has been nominated for an EMCA in 2011 in the category of Country Recording of the Year. "If you like real down home country rock, you will love the CD", Kevin says

He’s been heralded as “The Tobique Troubadour” and “The Diamond in the Rough”. This tall, blond singer has been entertaining young and old alike with his deep baritone voice portraying the classics along with driving country rock.  A native of Plaster Rock, Clay Stephen Harrison was born on July 30, 1974. He has been showing his passion for country music since he received his first guitar from his grand parents at age 14. After performing at various talent shows, Clay got his first start with the Midnight Special along side his uncle Kevin Neilson when he was 15 years old. He went on as lead singer in bands Desperado, One Way Rider and Neon Moon.

At age 18, Clay joined the New Brunswick Country Showcase and still performs periodically at The Playhouse in Fredericton. He has been a fan favorite at several events including The Plaster Rock Homecoming, World Pond Hockey and one of the main attractions at Maritime Countryfest.

On Saturday, June 11 from 12 noon to 4pm, Maritime Countryfest will open up the tent for a free concert and lots of activities for all ages.

On Saturday, April 2nd, iRock will host the first ever “Battle of the Bands” with the first prize being a chance to perform at Maritime Countryfest 2011 on Saturday, June 11th. Cover will be $10 and everyone there will get to vote for their favorite band.
